Gérard
«Gerry» P. Gagnon, 73, originally from Moncton,
passed away following a short illness, on Wednesday June 12, 2024
surrounded by his family at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in
Notre-Dame, he was the son of the late Alexandre and Edna
(Léger) Gagnon.
Gérard
retired after 25 years with McAsphalt Industries. He liked to go
fishing and take hikes in the forest. Gérard was always a
happy person with a sense of humor that will be missed. He especially
loved being surrounded by family and friends.
He is survived by his
wife of 51 years, Claudine (Cormier) Gagnon; his son, Marc Gagnon
(Suzanne) of Dieppe; his daughter, Ginette LeBlanc (Marc) of
Memramcook; four grandchildren: Erica, Nadia, Alexandre, and Yasmine;
six sisters: Lilianne Gaudet (Donald) and Muriel Breau, both of
Moncton, Jeannita Gagnon (André Bouchard) of Gatineau, QC,
Lorraine LeBouthillier (late Ovila) of Dieppe, Sylvia Lanteigne (late
Roger LeBlanc) of Notre-Dame, and Georgette Lirette (Charles) of
Saint-Philippe; two brothers: Normand Gagnon (Germaine) of Leominster,
MA, and Jean-Paul Gagnon (Lucille) of Saint-Antoine; as well as
several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and
nephews.
Besides his parents,
he was predeceased by one sister, Léona Paquet, and one
brother, René Gagnon.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) on Sunday
from 7 to 9 pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at
Sainte-Thérèse-de-l’Enfant-Jésus
church, 457 Acadie Avenue, Dieppe, on Monday June 17 at 11 am.
Interment will be at Our Lady of Calvary cemetery in Dieppe. In memory
of Gérard, a contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation
(Tree of Hope or oncology) would be appreciated.
