Léopold "Paul" Melanson, 82, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC on Saturday, May 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Scoudouc, he was the son of the late Léo and Laura (Landry) Melanson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jeannine, a daughter Joanne Martins of Rocky Hills, Connecticut, US; his siblings: Claude (Léa) of Notre-Dame, Omer (Murielle) of Ste-Marie-de-Kent, Victor of Richibucto, and Auréa LeBlanc of Shediac, a sister-in-law Marguerite Melanson of Shediac; two grandchildren: Austin Martins and Jeremy Martins, and several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Adrien and a brother-in-law John LeBlanc.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac, on Wednesday, May 29 from 2 pm to 4 pm and from 7 pm to 9 pm only. A chapel service will be held on Thursday, May 30 at 3 pm. The funeral service will be live streamed on Paul’s obituary on our website at www.frenettefuneralhome.com.

 The family wants to say a special thank you to the excellent nurses and the team of cardiologists of the Coronary Intensive Care Unit and Unit 4C at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital for your loving attention and care given to Paul. It will never be forgotten. It was very much appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
