Albertine Melanson, 92, of Shediac and formerly of Boudreau Ouest, passed away on Saturday May 4, 2024 at the Villa Providence. Born in Bouctouche, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mélina (Babineau) Maillet.

Prior to her retirement, Albertine worked at the Louis-J.-Robichaud Highschool in the cafeteria. Albertine loved life and living it to the fullest. We will always remember her gardens and flowers, but above all it’s the many gatherings with family and friends. She also loved her many hobbies: darts, painting, playing cards, dance and music outings. Her talents in cooking led her to do several years of volunteering in retirement for the St-Joseph parish of Shediac.

She is survived by a daughter, Glenda Melanson (Jacques DesRosiers) of Shediac; four sons: Guy (Judy Blank) of Moncton,  Daniel (Carole Smith) of Cocagne, Roland (Janice Cormier) of Shediac Bridge, and Bernard (Jeannita) of Shediac; three sisters: Claudette Cormier (Rhéal Drisdelle) of Moncton, Roberte Maillet of Arizona, and Henrietta McDonald (Garry) of Florida; one brother, John-Paul (Rose-Marie) of Florida; eight grandchildren: Mathieu, Jolyne, Ryan, Benoit, Jessica, Jamie, Daniel, and Marc; seven great-grandchildren: Jordan, Ariele, Samuel, Cecilia, Paisley, Emma, and Nathaniel, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Alphé (1991); four brothers: Eudore, Archile, Léonard, and Ronald.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (506-532-3297) from where the funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday June 6 at 4 pm followed by a reception. Visiting hours are Thursday June 6 from 1 to 3:45 pm only. Interment will be in the St-Joseph cemetery Shediac.

In memory of Albertine, a contribution to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.

Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Shediac (506-532-3297).
