Eddy Gallant, 84, of Cormier-Village, passed away
surrounded by his family on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the Dr.
Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Gallant-Settlement, he was the son of
the late Tanis and Marguerite (Gallant)
Gallant.
Before retiring, Eddy worked for Parlee Beach
Provincial Park.
Eddy was a hard worker. He trained as a carpenter.
This trade allowed him to work on many construction projects. His
passion, however, was his farm. He became a farmer in his early
twenties, and this passion stayed with him until recently. Horses had
a very special place on his farm.
He loved having visitors at home. His warm welcome
and sense of humor kept his friends coming back. He also loved going
for truck rides with his friend Gérald Léger,
who was very much a part of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Yvonne
(Robichaud) Gallant; two children: Pierrette Gallant
(Gérald Richard) and Léon Gallant (Irma LeBlanc)
all of Grand-Barachois; a son in-law, Denis Landry of Cormier-Village;
a sister, Cécile Carrier (Élie) of Timmins, ON;
two sisters-in-law: Hélène Belliveau and
Lorraine Belliveau both of Timmins, ON; three grandchildren:
Rémi, Julien and Jasmine; three great-grandchildren:
Olivier, Rosalie and Breelle, as well as his nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter Charline Landry
(2023), his brothers Méderic and Marcel, and his sisters
Juliette and Elda.
Special thanks to his wife, our mother, Yvonne, who
provided exceptional care at home during the past
year.
The family would also like to thank the Shediac
Extra-Mural team and the Dr. Léon Richard Oncology Centre
for their loving and compassionate care.
The family will receive condolences at the Frenette
Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (506-532-3297)
on Thursday, May 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. only. Funeral
mass will be celebrated at St-Henri de Barachois Church, 1356 Route
133, Grand-Barachois on Friday, May 10 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in
St-Henri de Barachois Cemetery,
Grand-Barachois.
In Eddy's memory, a contribution to the Fondation CHU
Dumont (Oncology) or to the Père-Edgar-T.-LeBlanc school
breakfasts would be appreciated.
