Paul "Striker" Melanson, 57, of Moncton and formerly of Haute-Aboujagane, passed away on Sunday April 21, 2024. Born in Haute-Aboujagane, he was the son of the late Yvon and Rosaline (Vienneau) Melanson.

He is survived by a special niece, Stephanie and her son, Kody, who was his pride and joy, his goddaughter, Arielle, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

Striker’s hard-work and dedication was well known within his small community of "la HA", particularly through his work as a volunteer in the youth committees, then becoming a member of the organizing committee for the Haute-Aboujagane softball league. He was an avid sports fan, especially softball, which he played when he was young. In recent years, Striker could be found at the rink watching and supporting his precious Kody play hockey. In fact, he was known as the unofficial team "score keeper" as he never missed a goal (even when parents lost track). He was lovingly known as "menoncle Paul" to all of Kody’s teammates and their parents; Striker’s constant presence with his various teams will be deeply missed.

A lot of people will also remember Striker as a social butterfly, who always enjoyed a fun time and who wasn’t shy about taking out his speaker to crank up the tunes wherever he was; a skill he put to good use through his brief business venture as a DJ "Midnight Music".

Besides his parents, Striker was predeceased by his beloved wife, Roberte "Robbie" Léger (2020), whom he missed dearly.

In accordance with Striker’s wishes, there will be no visitation and a private ceremony will be held amongst his family and friends. In memory of Striker, a contribution to the Canadian Mental Health Association or to the donor's choice would be appreciated.

Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Shediac (506-532-3297).
