Mariette Gauvin, 70, of Shediac passed away surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday April 18, 2024, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Shediac, she was the daughter of the late Eugène and Carmen (Léger) Boudreau who died young. She was adopted by the late Louis and Marie LeBlanc.

Mariette was a nurse before pursuing a career in the Social Services. She then became a teaching assistant in Grand-Barachois, Grande-Digue, and Shediac in MFB and LJR high school.

She is survived by her two daughters: Véronique Gauvin of Scoudouc and Valerie Gauvin of Boudreau Office; three sisters: Jacinthe Doiron, Francine LeBlanc (late Claude) all of Shediac, and Yvette Cormier (Alex) of Lakeville; five brothers: Claude (Yvonne) of Grand-Barachois, Normand (late Janice) of Memramcook, Guy (Marie-Caroline) of Shediac, Norbert (Louise) of McKees Mill, and  Louis LeBlanc (Marie) of Dieppe; two grandsons: Kye Winchester and Caleb Winchester, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, René (2008).

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (506-532-3297) from where the funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday April 25 at 4 pm. Visiting hours are Thursday from 2 to 3:45 pm only. In lieu of flowers, in memory of Mariette, donations may be made to the Lunchbox Grandpa, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.

Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Shediac.
