It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Normand Léger at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC on April 6, 2024. Born in Barachois, he was the son of the late Ulric Léger and the late Marie-Jeanne (Caissie).

Before his retirement, Normand worked in the construction business and had been a fisherman in the state of New-York. He also owned and managed a take-out in the province of Québec.  Recently, he worked at the pine needles Golf and Country club. Even in sickness, Normand never lost his sense of humour.  He was a man of few words and was always willing to give a helping hand to people of the community.  As a hobby, he enjoyed watching sports and playing guitar.

Normand will be sadly missed by his daughter, Sophie Lanteigne (Jonathan); his son, René Léger; three step-sons: Michel Cormier, Daniel Cormier (Line), and Paul Cormier (Jeannie); two step-daughters: Monique LeBlanc (Richard) and Nathalie Cormier (Kris); his biological son, Danny Ouellet; his five sisters: Cathy Furlong (Leon), Murielle Doll (George), Lucille LeBlanc (Fernand), Jeanne Gaudet (Ubald), and Sr. Huberte Léger (Daughters of Jesus); nine grandchildren: Mali, Alexandria, Jasmine, Zacharie, Mélika, Janelle, Nate, Mathieu, and Patrick, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his late first wife, Claudette Bourdage; his late second wife, Thérèse Léger; his eight brothers: Arthur, Bernard, Omer, Fernand, Ulysse, John, Michel, and Rhéo; one sister, Antoinette.

We are appreciative of the palliative care at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation and no funeral service. Interment will be at Our Lady of Calvary cemetery in Dieppe. In memory of Normand, a donation to the CHU Dumont Foundation (oncology) or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
