Antoine Melanson, 83, resident of Villa du Repos in Moncton, passed away on Sunday March 24, 2024 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Saint-Fabien, he was the son of the late Henri and Marie (Léger) Melanson.

Prior to his retirement, Antoine was a teacher in Petit-Rocher and Bathurst.

He is survived by three sisters: Ella Melanson of St-Antoine, Irène Landry (Omer) of Sainte-Marie, and Simone Jeffrey (Clarence) of Shediac; two sisters-in-law: Lola Melanson and Claudette Melanson, both of Dieppe; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters: Dorilla (Laurie) Nowlan and Blanche (Noël) Cormier; and four brothers: Albert (Dora), Paul, Léo (infant), and Fernand.

The family will receive condolences at Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel R.C. church slumber room, 2350 Route 515, Ste-Marie-de-Kent from where the funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday April 2 from 4 pm. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2 pm until time of funeral. Interment will be in parish cemetery. In memory of Antoine, a contribution to Parkinson Canada or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (506-858-1900).
