At his residence in Shediac, surrounded by his loving family, Gérard Cormier, 71, passed away on Thursday March 14, 2024. Born in Shediac, he was the son of the late Gérald "Dolore" and Céline (Gallant) Cormier.

Gérard was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, and atv off-roading with his many friends and beloved family members. He also enjoyed passing time at his camp, where he spent many hours building it by hand. He lived his life to the fullest, on his own terms and encouraged everyone to do the same. He had an enormous positive impact on all who met him.

He is survived by his spouse, Linda Gautreau; four children: Jean-Claude, Donny (Nicole), Michel, and Cathy Gautreau (Daniel Hope) all of Shediac; five siblings: Angela McPhee, Jean-Charles, Raymond "Gayou" (late Rachel), Edvin (Yvette), and Lorenzo; three grandchildren: Danyka (Miah), Bianca, and Malika; four sisters-in-law: Rose Cormier, Claudette Martin, Jeannette Cormier, and Annette Fougère; several nieces and nephews, as well as his special friends, Bear his dog, and Malik his cat.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his seven siblings: Abraham "Boy", Armand "Jackie", Laurentine, Alphée, Cécile, Léonce "Nini", and Norbert "Curler".

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac from where a chapel service will be held on Wednesday March 20 at 3 pm. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 1 pm to 2:45 pm. In memory of Gérard, a contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation (oncology) would be appreciated.
