It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lucille Goguen, 97, of Dieppe and formerly of Cap-Pelé, at Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC on Saturday March 9, 2024. Born in Cap-Pelé, she was the daughter of the late Georges and Judith (Cormier) Porelle. She was the last surviving member of her 9 siblings.

She is survived by her four children: Georgette (Guy Vienneau) of Montreal, QC, Raynald of St-André-LeBlanc, Gilles (Johane Arsenault) of Moncton, and Gisèle (Daniel Richard) of Cap-Pelé; six grandchildren: Danielle, Alex, Patrick, Mélanie, Natalie, and Marc; five great-grandchildren; one sister in-law, Lorette Goguen of Dieppe, as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edouard (Ned) Goguen (1992); siblings: Rev. Oswald Porelle, Carmen O’Blenis, Valérie Porelle, Dosithée Porelle, Anna Leblanc, Éveline Burns, Francis Porelle, Céline Swantee and Georgette Bellehumeur.

Our mom loved her Acadian heritage, her faith and her native community Cap-Pelé. She was an excellent cook and could prepare a meal from scratch with incredible speed. She was also passionate about sewing, quilting, gardening, bottling her garden produce, and anything she could imagine. She had a passion for flowers, and in her home, you could always see beautiful, well-kept flowers. Also our mom loved volunteering at Church, St. Vincent de Paul, and other community events.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of the Résidence Oasis in Dieppe, where she had lived since 2010, for their attentive care, especially during the past year, as well as the staff of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 2642 Acadie Road, Cap-Pelé on Tuesday, August 20 from 7 pm to 9 pm and on Wednesday from 9:15 am to 10:15 am. The funeral sercice will be held in Ste-Thérèse-d'Avila R. C. Church, 2648 Acadie Road, Cap-Pelé on Wednesday August 21 at 10:30 am. Interment will be in Ste-Thérèse-d'Avila Cemetery, Cap-Pelé.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Fondation CHU Dumont or the Kidney Foundation of Canada (Moncton Chapter) would be appreciated by the family.

Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Cap-Pelé (506-577-3297).
