Omer Surette, 88, of Moncton, passed away on Friday February 23, 2024, at his residence. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Pierre and Ida (Gallant) Surette.
Omer had a passion for the outdoors. He loved to play his fiddle, to go hunting and to spend time at his camp. He was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadians. Omer proudly served with the Canadian Armed Forces.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Stella (Bastarache) Surette; four children: Louise, Alice Richard (JP), Roger (Verna) and Paul (Karen); two grandchildren: Kyle and Ashley, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters: Léo, Sylvain, Rita, Thérèse, Cécile, Annette, infant Joseph and infant Ronald.
A private funeral service will be held at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900). Interment will be in St-Philippe. In memory of Omer, a contribution to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
