It is with a heavy heart that we share in the passing
of Yvon Gautreau, who left peacefully for his final journey on Tuesday
February 13, 2024. His teasing smile, delicious food, passion for
bridge, sincere curiosity about all who crossed his path and
unwavering love for his wife Jeannine and his family will remain
forever etched in our memories.
Yvon leaves behind his wife, Jeannine (Cormier); two
sons: Pierre (Cathy) and Jacques (Sylvia); two grandchildren: Connor
and Zoë; three sisters: Jeannine Léger (late
Antoine) and Lorraine Gautreau both of Moncton, and Bernice Wayboda
(Frank) of Ottawa, ON; two brothers: Léo-Paul (Raymonde)
and Bernard (Géraldine) both of Moncton, as well as many
nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Donat and Elizabeth
(Vautour) Gautreau, he was predeceased by two sisters:
Léona and Thérèse, and
a brother, Gérard.
Yvon had a long career in
the public service and continued with the same spirit of service in
his retirement, sharing his expertise by serving as a Shediac town
councillor and on several boards of directors. He also contributed
greatly to the work of the Rotary Club of Shediac, leading the
"big lobster" file, which will be part of his
legacy.
He will be remembered for his generosity, good
humour, love of good music and a good
recipe.
The family will receive condolences at the Frenette
Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (506-532-3297)
from where tributes will be held on Friday February 16 at 2 pm, where
we will share memories, laughter and probably a few tears in his
honour. Visiting hours will be Friday February 16, from 11:00 am to
1:50 pm.
If you would like to pay tribute to Yvon, please
consider donating to the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology Centre,
where he received exceptional care, or to the Red Cross, an
organization he supported by organizing the famous "Duck
Race" for many years.
