Jacques Robichaud, 73, of Dieppe, passed away on Thursday
January 18, 2024 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Moncton, he was the
son of the late Gilbert and the late Anne-Marie (Cormier)
Robichaud.
Jacques worked as a manager at Radio-Canada for 33 years. He
obtained a B.Sc.Comm. from the Université de Moncton in
1972 and recently contributed to establishing an endowment to bestow
grants on students in commerce. Jacques was also an entrepreneur who
cofounded two businesses, Marco Polo Deli and Robilan, which
specialized in wine importation. He served on the board of directors
of Curl Moncton, supervised its expansion, and organized several
championships. He was media and production director of the World
Men’s Curling Championship, and he presided over the
inaugural U18 Canadian Curling Championship in 2019. Jacques was an
avid reader and traveller, a sports fan, and a golfer. He prepared
desserts worthy of the cuisines of the greatest
restaurants, but above all he was a devoted husband and a loving
father.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Karen
Côté-Robichaud; one daughter, Julie Doucette
(Mario) of Moncton; one son, Denis (Viveca) of South Bend, Indiana;
one granddaughter, Iris; nine brothers and sisters:
Jean-Maurice (Denise Hubley), Gisèle (Michel
Gagné), Pierre (Solange Bourgoin), Marc, René
(Lucille Wedge), Paul (Cécile Frenette), Charles (Annette
Després), Lise (Paul Gaudet), and Joël; as well as
several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother,
Guy.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) where the
funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 23, at 11
am. Visiting hours are Monday, January 22, from 2 to 4 and 7
to 9 pm only. In memory of Jacques, a contribution to the
Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation (oncology) or the CHU
Dumont Foundation (oncology) would be appreciated.
