It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of
Florence Roy-Gallant, previously of Moncton, NB at Losier Hall,
Miramichi, NB on January 1st,
2024.
Florence had recently celebrated her
85th birthday. The family are grateful for the
time spent with Florence during the holidays before her
passing.
Florence was the youngest and last remaining sibling of 11
children. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward (Edouard) Roy and
Mathilda Roy (LeBlanc), her sisters: Nélida, Emma, Maria,
Louise, and Léa; and her brothers: Omer, Frank, Norman,
Jim, and Yvon.
Florence was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Jacques
Gallant. She is survived by her four children: Raymond (Jeannine) of
Moncton, Andrea (Victor Pokan) of Toronto, ON, Mona Lutz (Blair) of
Miramichi, and Roger (Misty) of Lower Coverdale; four grandchildren:
Julia (Lenny), Blair (Ellen), Meagan, Colin; and three great-
grandchildren: Dana, Lily, and Bryce.
Florence is also survived by several sisters-in-law,
brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews who she was very close
to.
Florence was born in 1938 in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, NB, and
moved to Minto, NB, in 1940. She graduated at Minto Memorial High
School in 1957. She was employed at Eaton’s in Moncton for a
year before moving to Saint John. She worked at City Hall for a short
time before marrying Jacques in 1961 and starting a family. The family
moved to Moncton in 1972.
Florence was a member of the Moncton Lionettes for 35 years,
serving twice as president, and for several years was a member of the
CWL at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.
In addition to spending time with family and friends,
Florence enjoyed travelling and her garden. She travelled across
Canada and the USA, visited Europe, Hong Kong, and
Hawaii.
Florence will be remembered for her ability to connect with
people, her sparkling personality, her faith, and her deep love for
her family.
The family would like to thank Dr. John Li and the staff at
Losier Hall, Miramichi and Parkland Riverview for all the care
provided to Florence over the past several years.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) on Friday,
January 5, 2024 from 9:30 am until time of departure (11:15). The
funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard’s Catholic
Church, 43 Botsford Street, Moncton on Friday, January 5, 2024 at
11:30 am. A reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will
be at Our Lady of Calvary cemetery in Dieppe. Memorial donations may
be made to the CNIB, Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society
of Canada.
