Ton-Zoue Lam, 84, of Moncton, passed away on December 22,
2023 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Canton China, he was the son of
the late Leo and Kung Lam.
Zoue "Pop, Yaya" lived an incredible
life.
At the age of ten, Zoue immigrated to Canada, where he met
his father for the first time. At the age of 12, he left
school and started working to support his family. In 1972,
at the age of 33, against incredible odds, he and his "good
wife" Miliza, opened the House of Lam which remains an important
landmark to this day. Zoue served as the President of the
Atlantic Chinese Business Council, as Atlantic Canada’s
economic emissary to China where he led numerous delegations to
support trade and business development opportunities in the emerging
Chinese market. In recognition of his private and public
successes in Canada, he was awarded with the Commemorative Medal for
the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada.
Surpassing his entrepreneurial and professional successes,
was his unconditional love for his family which he described as his
life’s pride and joy. Zoue loved nothing more than
travelling the world and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Miliza Wong; three
sons: Jim (Monique), Arthur (Debbie), and Chris (Kathryn); six
grandchildren: Nicholas, Alex, Rachel, Gabryel, Sasha, and Grayson;
one sister, Jean (Paul); one brother, Tom Lam (Ying); as well as many
nieces and nephews.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) from where
the funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday December 28, 2023
at 11 am. Visiting hours are Wednesday December 27, 2023 from 6pm to
8pm only. Interment will be at Fair Haven Cemetery in
Moncton.
In memory of Ton-Zoue, in lieu of flowers, a contribution to
the Friends of the Moncton Hospital (Palliative) or to the Parkinson
Society would be appreciated by the family.
