It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Gérard Goguen, 62, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday December 17, 2023 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Shediac, he was the son of the late Ferdinand Goguen and Géraldine (Bourque) Goguen of Cap-Pelé.

Gérard worked as a Foreman at Gaudet & Ouellette Ltd for over 40 years. Before his illness, he enjoyed traveling, all-terrain-vehicle trips with friends, lobster fishing and spending time with family. A hockey fanatic, he admired his grandchildren at the rink playing hockey and ringette.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife of 40 years, Eva Goguen; two children whom he was proud of: Joannie Léger (Paulin) and Mario Goguen (Kayla Cullen) both of Cap-Pelé; two brothers: Donat (Rosella) and Joe (Charline) both of Cap-Pelé; three precious grandchildren whom he loved and cherished deeply: Cédric, Camie, and Bryson; two sisters-in-law: Marie Ouellette and Freda Leger; as well as many nieces and nephews; special friends: Patrick and Debbie Dodier.

Besides his father, he was predeceased by an infant sister, Anne-Marie.

Gérard’s family would like to extend special thanks to all the staff at the Dr. Léon Richard Oncology Centre.

As per his wishes, there will be no visitation and no funeral service; however, friends and family will be invited to gather to celebrate his life at a later time. In memory of Gérard, a contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation (Oncology) would be appreciated.

Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Cap-Pelé (506-577-3297).
