Robert ‘’Bob’’
Demers, 80, of Moncton, passed away on Sunday November 19, 2023 at The
Moncton Hospital. Born in Asbestos, QC, he was the son of the late
Anatole and Alberta (Smith) Demers.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Johnson of Moncton; two
grandchildren: Brooke (Jamus) and Dylan; and his two precious cats:
Simba and Nala.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his infant
daughter, Tracey Lee, and his only sister, Bonnie.
He joined the Canadian Navy in 1963 where he served 12 years,
three terms, in the most northerly location to the North Pole, Alert,
NWT. He had many stories of his years there and was proud to
serve.
After the Navy, he became an auto mechanic and worked many
years in the field. One of his true passions, however, was
his leather work and wood working. If he was not making
purses or wallets, he was turning bowls on the lathe or making
furniture. His most recent work included his wooden pens, which he
loved to give away.
He was an animal lover with a passion for his cats.
In earlier years, he bred cats and loved each and every one of
them.
In accordance to his wishes, there will be no visitation and
no funeral service. In memory of Bob, a contribution to a
charity involving the care of animals, or a charity of your choice
would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements are in the
professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton
(506-858-1900).
