Mildred Melanson, 94, formerly of Moncton, passed away on Sunday November 12, 2023 at the Villa Providence in Shediac. Born in Tracadie, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Robichaud) Coughlan.

A wonderful mother, Mildred was well appreciated by her family and her colleagues for her sincere empathy and her love of life.  She was an avid globetrotter, and enjoyed lively discussions.  As a skilled do-it-yourselfer, there was nothing she wouldn’t try to master.

Prior to her retirement, Mildred was a nurse with N.B. Public Health Department. Through her work as a committed union member, a pioneer and a mentor, she contributed to the recognition and advancement of the nursing profession in NB.

She is survived by two sons: Hilarion (Gilberte) and Marc; three grandchildren: Rémy (Caroline Belliveau), Jean-Gabriel, and Nikki; one great-grandchild, Adélie; three sisters: Irene Khor, Rosemarie McDade, and Brenda Coughlan (Omer Doiron); two brothers: Brian (Jimena Vergara) and Keith (Thérèse Ferguson); as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Rodolphe (1969); five siblings: May, Elsie, Hilarion, Carmel, and Beverley.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation and no funeral service. Interment will be at Our Lady of Calvary cemetery in Dieppe. In memory of Mildred, donations can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association.  Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (506-858-1900).

Words of comfort and donations can be sent to www.Frenettefuneralhome.com
