It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of
Mae Richard, 98, of Moncton, on Sunday July 23, 2023 at the Dr.
Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Saint-Anselme, she was the daughter of
the late Arcade and Eda (Belliveau) Bourgeois.
Prior to her retirement, Mae worked for 20+ years as
secretary to Dr. Roland Maurice, who, at that time, was the only ears,
nose and throat specialist in NB. With a vibrant spirit and
warm embrace, gatherings were always made brighter by her
presence. She will be remembered fondly by family and
friends for her sharp wit, positive attitude, natural curiosity, and
most of all, her wonderful sense of humour.
She is survived by two children: Paula Power (Allan) and
Denis; two grandchildren: Antoine Richard and Stefanie Power
(Jarrett); one sister-in-law, Lina Richard; as well as many nieces and
nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate
family.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband,
Léo (2006); two sisters: Hectorine Battah and Rita LeBlanc;
and two brothers: Armand Bourgeois and Gérald
Bourgeois.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff
of the 4th floor 4A wing of the Dr.
Georges-L.-Dumont hospital for their compassionate care during her
time there.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) on
Thursday, August 10, with visitation hours from 10 to 11 am, a funeral
service will be celebrated at 11 am, followed by a
reception. Interment will be at Our Lady of Calvary
Columbarium in Dieppe. In memory of Mae, please consider a
contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation or Hospice SENB (Albert
House).
