It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Daryl
Joseph Cail.
Daryl left us on July 15, 2023 very peacefully and with
dignity at the Albert House surrounded by his loving
family.
He was born on January 22, 1947 in Moncton, NB, to wonderful
parents - Wesley and Lillian Cail.
He graduated from Harrison Trimble High School and then went
on to Nova Scotia to start his career in the concrete
business.
His expertise and vibrant personality led him to become a
well-known and respected leader with the Stevens Group, becoming
president of Quality Concrete where he retired in 2012.
He was also involved in many causes and organizations such as
Atlantic Concrete Association, Nova Scotia Curling Association and in
recent years became a member of a Fund Raiser Committee to help make
possible the existence of Albert House, where he worked as a volunteer
and touched many lives.
In his youth, he was part of "The Gemtones" a rock
group, as a vocalist and bass player. They were known to shake the
dance floor of many venues across the Maritimes and went on to release
several albums to much fanfare.
Daryl is survived by his daughters, Lisa (Keith) and Jody
(Kenny), and the mother of his children, Brenda Cail.
He also leaves to mourn his two precious grandsons, PJ and
Darien, whom he loved with all his heart. He was a proud Poppy and
touched their lives in a loving way.
He also will be missed by his sister Sharon Baker (Dave) and
his brother Peter Cail (Rita), as well as loving nieces and
nephews.
He also leaves to mourn his loving and devoted partner for
the last 8 years, Claudette Mills, her sons who he loved like his own
sons - Sébastien, Luc and Martin, and also Nicola and Eva,
his step-grandkids.
He also leaves to mourn many wonderful friends and colleagues
whom he met throughout the Maritimes, during his lengthy and
successful career.
Daryl touched everyone he met in a special way. His
personality was contagious and his laughter was unforgettable. His
loving heart left a beacon of light wherever he went.
He received incredible care at the Albert House and we would
like to thank the staff for all their attention and great
compassion.
Thank you to his friend and family doctor, Dr. Elivia
Morrison, for her care and availability when we needed it the
most.
Thank you to Dr. Mohammed Harb and the staff of Dr. Sheldon
Rubin Oncology Clinic for their compassionate care.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) where a
Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday July 25 at 11 am
followed by a reception at the funeral home. Visiting hours are Monday
July 24 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm only.
In lieu of flowers, Daryl’s biggest wish was for a
contribution to Albert House Hospice SENB (Hospice
SENB) or a charity of the donor’s
choice.
