On Wednesday May 31, 2023, at his residence in Cap-Pelé, surrounded by his beloved family, Roméo Cormier, husband of the late Camilla Cormier (2016), passed away peacefully at the age of 79. Born in Bas-Cap-Pelé, he was the son of the late Gérard and late Irène (Melanson) Cormier.
Prior to his retirement, Roméo was a fisherman, mostly in the crab and lobster industry. He loved hunting, spending time at his camp, and taking his motorhome to Florida and traveling.
He is survived by his two sons: Ricky (Angie) and Timmy (Carol) all of Bas-Cap-Pelé; six siblings: Huberte Kaminski (Siggy) of Kitchener, ON, Alex Cormier (late Marie Anne), Joseph Cormier (Alva), Clarice Cormier (Pauline), Maria LeBlanc (Charles) all of Bas-Cap-Pelé, and Paul-Émile Cormier (Joanne) of Robichaud; four grandchildren: Tyler (Catherine), Miguel (Annelle), Brooklyn (Mario), and Alexi (Alexis); two great-grandchildren: Émilie and Alexander, as well as several nieces and nephews. A special friend, Majella Doiron. He was predeceased by an infant sister, Gisèle.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 2642 Acadie Road, Cap-Pelé, on Friday June 2 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Ste-Thérèse-d’Avila R.C. Church, 2648 Acadie Road, Cap-Pelé, on Saturday June 3 at 10:30 am. Interment will be in the Frenette Columbarium, Cap-Pelé.
