Roger Gallant, 77, of Shediac, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday May 12, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Shediac, he was the son of the late Alfred Poitras of Grand-Falls, NB, and late Regina Gallant (LeBlanc) of Shediac.

Prior to his retirement, Roger spent many years as a mechanic working at Romeo’s Marine and the Town of Shediac before moving on and teaching small engine repair at NBCC Dieppe.  He finished his career working as a Commissionaire at the Government of Canada Pension Centre.

Roger’s passion was music!  For many years, he was the lead singer and guitar player for the band Gunsmoke, playing and singing at various bars and open-mic nights.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Gracie-Gallant; son, Brian Gallant (Shirley Hicks) of Moncton; daughter, Christine Gallant (Yann Pichon) of Shediac; step-daughter, Christina Savoie-Lindsay (Peter) of St. Stephen; a brother, Robert "Bob" Gallant (late Deanna) of Shediac; a sister, Shirley LeBlanc (late Roger) of Pointe-du-Chêne; four haft-sisters: Anne Plourde (late Rodolphe) of Grand-Falls, Patricia Rioux (Carmel) of Grand-Falls, Rachel Poitras of Grand-Falls, and Frances Gorey (Corey Hamlin) of Maine; two haft-brothers: George Poitras (Georgette) of Drummond and Danny Poitras (Donna) of Fort St. John; three grand-children: Joshua, Sipotjiitj "Sipo", and Emilie; two step-grandchildren: Connor and MJ, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Rolande Gallant (Boudreau) of 46 years in 2014.

In accordance with Roger’s wishes, there will be no visitation and no funeral service. His final resting place will be in the Frenette Funeral Centre Columbarium in Shediac. In memory of Roger, a contribution to the New Brunswick Extra Mural Program (Shediac) or to the CHU Dumont Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre of Shediac (506-532-3297).
