Prior to his retirement, Donat was a teacher for 31 years at Louis-J.-Robichaud High School. Following his retirement, Donat worked at Frenette Funeral Centre as a funeral assistant for 23 years. He was president of the Caisse Populaire Scoudouc/Dieppe and pastoral health officer for the parishes of Shediac, Scoudouc and Grande-Digue, and a former president of the Beausejour Family Crisis Resource Centre in Shediac, he has also volunteered extensively with several other organizations.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Cécile (Léger) Belliveau; three children: Sophie Léger (Charles) of Shediac, Rémi (Cindy) of Scoudouc, and François (Isabelle) of Dieppe; three grandsons: Simon, Gabriel, and Nicholas; five siblings: Thomas (Agnès) of Dieppe, Marie-Paule Richard (late Rhéal), Roberte Gauvin (late Fred), Annette Melanson (Émile), and Monique Léger (Philippe) all of Shediac; two sisters in-law: Dorine of Shediac and Jeannette of Bouctouche; a brother in-law, Hector Petitpas of Ville Sainte-Catherine, QC, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers: Claude and Bernard, and a sister, Claudette Petitpas.

We would like to thank Dr. Josée Melanson, Dr. Eve St. Hilaire, Dr. Julie Arsenault, the staff of Extra-Mural and the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology Centre for their support and good care.
