Alexander William Sowik, 62, of Moncton, passed away on
Monday April 17, 2023 at The Moncton Hospital surrounded by friends
who loved him.
Born in Banff, Alberta, Alex spent his latest 10 years in
Moncton helping others. Upon his arrival to Moncton, he spent his days
in the Harvest House Community Centre cleaning and giving a warm
welcome to everyone as they entered. His commitment to helping keep
the space clean and tidy was recognized, and Alex was offered an
opportunity to be the custodian for the Community Centre. Alex was
very proud to have this position and he worked very hard at it on a
daily basis.
Eventually, Alex became a resident of the Harvest House
Housing Program. He was well respected and appreciated for his
kindness, stories, and jokes. Alex didn’t want much in life.
He was happy to have his coffee, a daily walk or bike ride through the
community, and an afternoon nap. Alex could always be counted on for
helping others.
Predeceased by his father of Czechoslovakia and mother of
Germany, Alex is survived by his children, family and friends. He will
be lovingly remembered by his Harvest House family, which he was proud
to be a member of.
The funeral service will be celebrated at Harvest House, 182
High Street, Moncton, on Monday April 24, 2023 at 1 pm. Funeral
arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, Moncton (858-1900).
