Donald William MacLean, son of Roderick and Ann
(MacIntyre) MacLean, passed away peacefully at the Moncton City
Hospital, New Brunswick, on April 12, 2023, at the age of
84.
Don was born in Moncton and graduated from St. FX
University in 1960. He worked in Ottawa for the Department Bureau of
Statistics as a statistician. He went on to attend law school at the
University of New Brunswick and became a dedicated arbitrator and
vice-chairman of the Public Service Labour Board in Fredericton. In
addition to his work in the legal profession, he owned and operated R.
D. MacLean & Co. Ltd. in Moncton for 20 years, was a lawyer
for 50 years, and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He
also served as a town councillor in
Shediac.
He loved his Shediac home and enjoyed lobster dinner
with family, swimming at Parlee Beach, cycling, going to the gym and
walking with his dog, Camy. He was a strong runner and won first place
in his age group in the George Gallant
Races.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Loretta
Maillet MacLean, this coming July, they would have celebrated 60 years
of matrimony, his children: Kenneth (Michele), Stephen (Julianne),
Claudia, and Daniel (Stacy); his grandchildren: Gabrielle (Kyle),
Laura, Liam, Christina, and Sam, his brother Roderick (Janet), his
sister-in-law Jane Mitton-MacLean, and many nieces and
nephews.
Don was predeceased by his brother Jack, his sister
Andrea and brother-in-law Brendan Holohan.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral
and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac on Sunday, July 2, 2023
from 7 pm to 9 pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated at the
St-Joseph R. C. Church on Monday July 3 at 10:30 am.

Don’s name may be made to the Alzheimer Society of New
Brunswick.
Cremation and funeral
