Charles
Berthélémé, 96, of Moncton, passed
away on Thursday April 6, 2023 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont. Born in
France, he was the son of the late Joseph
Berthélémé and Anne
Poulhazan. He left us peacefully and painlessly as he always
wanted.
Charles was a faithful and
responsible husband who was always concerned with keeping his family
safe, a demanding and serious father but always fair and respectful,
as well as a grandfather, papy Charly, always there to answer the
"why?" of his children, young and old. A present and
reliable friend who loved to chat about politics, philosophy,
economics and life sciences, he was an interesting and interested man,
an example for all by his discipline and his seriousness at work, and
by his generosity.
He was an extraordinary
jack-of-all-trades: agronomist, cheese maker, taxi driver, tanker
truck driver, veterinarian, oyster farmer, fisherman,
gardener… and he also loved to laugh… laugh a
lot!
He greatly appreciated the
opportunity to serve the farmers of the region while he was a
veterinarian with the department of Agriculture for more than 30
years. He always enjoyed meeting them during his outings since his
retirement.
He
is survived by three children: Jean of Moncton, Claude (Phemie) of
Fredericton, and Lucie
Berthélémé-Montois (Christian) of
Saint-Bonnet-en-Champsaur, France; three sisters-in-law: Angéline
(late Jean), Geneviève and Lucie (late
René); six grandchildren: Noah,
Simon, Isaac, Emilie, Julie, and Mélodie; as well as his
nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased
by his wife, Corinne Lessard (2007); one brother, Joseph (Suzanne);
and one sister, Isabelle.
The family will receive
condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church
Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) on Sunday April 16 from 2 to 4 pm only.
There will be no funeral service. In memory of Charles, your sympathy
can be expressed in the form of a donation to a food bank or a charity
of your choice.
