Rita De Freitas, 100, of Shediac and formerly of Scoudouc, passed away on Sunday March 26, 2023, at the Villa Providence, Shediac. Born in Scoudouc, she was the daughter of the late Dosithé and Léonie (Belliveau) Boudreau.

She attended Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur Church in Scoudouc and was a member of the Scoudouc Golden Age Club. She loved sewing, cooking, and reading.

She is survived by one brother in-law, Gerry De Freitas (Nicole) of Calgary, AB, as well as several her nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Charles Andrew De Freitas (2022); one sister, Evelyne; three brothers: Robert, Euclide, and Evariste.

The family would like to thank the Villa Providence (Providence unit) for the wonderful care they provided during her stay.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (506-532-3297) where the funeral service will be celebrated on Friday March 31 at 3 pm. Visiting hours are Friday from 2 pm until time of funeral. The funeral service will be streamed live; to view the funeral, go to her obituary on the Frenette website.

Interment will be in the Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur cemetery in Scoudouc.
