It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Anna Cormier on Thursday, March 23, 2023. Born in Cap-Pelé, NB, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Cormier and Exelda (Gaudet) Cormier.

Marie Anna was a talented singer, songwriter, and musician. She had a passion for her Acadien heritage which influenced her song writing. Marie Anna enjoyed being surrounded by nature. She was kind-hearted and a loving, devoted caregiver.

Marie Anna will be dearly missed by her husband Robert Magee. They met in their university years and have been together since.  Her songs will hold precious memories of their shared love for her music.

She is also survived by three brothers: Joseph (Bernice) of Cap-Pelé, Normand (Janet) of Haute-Aboujagane, and Roland (Joy) of Moncton; four sisters: Marie-Mai Landry of Dieppe, Noëlla Jacob of Cap-Pelé, Rolande Cormier of Moncton, and Denise Gallant (Laurent) of Grande-Digue, as well as several nieces and nephews.

As per Marie Anne’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside service will be held in the spring in the Ste-Thérèse d’Avila cemetery, Cap-Pelé. In memory of Marie Anna, a contribution to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Cap-Pelé (506-577-3297).
