Peacefully and surrounded by his family, Paul-Emile Gautreau, 75, of Shediac, passed away on Monday March 20, 2023, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Shediac, he was the son of the late Aldéric and Jeanne (LeBlanc) Gautreau.

Prior to his retirement, Paul-Emile worked at the Caisse Populaire as a financial advisor.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Louise (Richard) Gautreau; three daughters: Jocelyne Després (David) of Cocagne, Charline Gautreau (Patrice Boudreau) of Dieppe, and Natasha Gautreau (Gabriel Ouellet) of Shediac Cape; three sisters: Anne-Marie MacNeil (Paul) of Shediac, Annette Lussier (late Guy) of Shediac, and Norma LeBlanc (Claude) of Magog, QC; one brother, Roland of Shediac; one brother in-law, Roland Belliveau of Fredericton; two grandsons: Philippe and Pierre-Luc; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Anita Belliveau.

Paul-Emile was a loving and devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grand-father, brother, and friend.  For those who had the privilege of knowing Paul-Emile, he left a lasting impression with his generosity, contagious smile, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  He was such an approachable person that he made friends wherever he went.

Paul-Emile held many titles in his life such as painter, salesman, car detailer, insurance broker and financial advisor but the role he cherished the most was being a husband and family man.  He had many hobbies such as his love for camping, dancing, playing cards, vacationing at the Villages in Florida and most of all being the number one cheerleader for his wife, daughters, and grandsons.  Paul-Emile was quite the competitor during washer toss tournaments, pickle ball and card games and could outplay anyone with his talent.

Thank you, Pape, for your unconditional love and all the beautiful memories.  We will cherish them forever and miss you beyond words. Xox

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Saint John Regional Hospital ICU as well as the Dr. Georges L. Dumont UHC ICU, 4C and 3F units.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac, on Monday March 27, 2023, from 1 pm to 3:30 pm only. The family respectfully asks that everyone wear a mask while attending the visitation. Interment will be at Frenette Columbarium, Shediac.

In memory of Paul-Emile, a contribution to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Blood Services Agency (Moncton) would be appreciated.

Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Shediac (506-532-3297).
