Guy Arsenault passed away peacefully at the age of 69 years old, on March 18, 2023 at the Foyer Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur in Dieppe. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Albénie and Laura (Bourque) Arsenault.

A painter and poet known for his publications Acadie Rock (1973), Il y a toutes sortes de personnes (1988) and Jackpot d’une pleine lune (1997), he traveled the streets of Moncton with his bag slung over his shoulder, offering his writings and his drawings in exchange for a simple coffee with his many collectors.

He is survived by his daughter, Maryse (James); the mother of his daughter, Monique Arseneault; his sisters: Maria Abel (late Gordon), Diane Arsenault, Suzanne Gison (Ed), and Monique Paquet (Claude); one sister-in-law, Hélène (late Robert); as well as many cousins, nephews and nieces including his goddaughter Cathy Cail (Quinn).

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one niece Danielle Boudreau, one brother Robert, and one sister Annette Boudreau (late Gérald).

The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of Foyer NDSC for their attentive care over the past five months as well as those of Résidence Moncton (2018-2023) and Résidence Hélène (2014-2018).

The family will receive family and friends at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) on Friday March 24 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame-de-Grâce church, 858 Mountain Road, Moncton on Saturday March 25 at 11 am. Other celebrations of life will be organized at a later date. In memory of Guy, a donation or an act of kindness towards people with mental health issues would be appreciated.
