At the Dr. Georges-L-Dumont University Hospital Center in Moncton, Bertin Allain, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 27, 2023, following a short illness. Originally from Bouctouche, he was the son of the late Anselme Allain and the late Ida (Poirier) Allain.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Murielle Cormier Allain, with whom he spent 55 years. He is also survived by his sister Alberta of Bouctouche, his two goddaughters: Monique Melanson Smiley, of Lloydminster, AB and Manon Landry-Breau of Grand-Barachois, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as several nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Bertin was first and foremost a simple man, upright, good, kind to everyone, with boundless devotion and exemplary piety.

Well known and much loved, Bertin had been repairing watches and jewelry since 1958, until June 30, 2022, under the name B.A. ALLAIN. He loved his job and enjoyed chatting with his clients.

Choral singing had been an integral part of his daily life for many years. He was part of the Alinos de Shediac group, the Grande-Digue Choir, the Moncton Flower of Remembrance, the Neil-Michaud choir, as well as the Groupe Rhythmique de Shediac, to name a few. This allowed him to travel to Europe, Alberta, the Magdalen Islands, etc. Also, Bertin had a passion for nature, especially for birds.

He was very active in his community and his Church, founding member of the Vestiaire St-Joseph Committee, founding member of the Knights of Columbus of Shediac, 4th degree of the Assembly # 2793 Mgr. Camille-André LeBlanc of Grand Barachois NB and former member of the Rotary Club of Shediac.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac, on Wednesday, February 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. only. The funeral will be held at St-Joseph Church, 415 Main Street, Shediac on Thursday February 2 at 11 a.m.

In memory of Bertin, a contribution to St-Joseph Cemetery, Shediac or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick would be appreciated.
