Pierre E. Leger, 75, of Moncton, passed away at the Dr. Georges Dumont Hospital on Saturday, December 10, 2022.

Pierre was predeceased by his parents, Dr. F. Emery Leger and Fredericka (Campbell) Leger and his very dear friends, Beverley Barrett, Lucille and Paul (Bomber) McCaie and Yves-Martin Robichaud.

An only child, throughout his life, Pierre was frequently surrounded by his extended family of aunts, uncles, and many cousins.  As the eldest and coolest cousin, Pierre was the trendsetter and trailblazer and he patiently endured the antics and escapades (and frequent comic book theft) of his younger cousins.

Pierre was a graduate of U de M with a degree in political science and he later continued his studies in France.  His work with Canada World Youth/Katimavik took him to Africa and fueled his enduring love of travel.  Pierre enjoyed reminiscing about life in Europe, Africa, and Central America, he loved grand-prix racing, football and sharing good food and wine with friends.

Pierre’s family always included his good friends; in particular, we thank Celia Boudreau, Jim Steeves and Craig Boby for their decades-long friendships and their unfailing care and support during Pierre’s later years as he struggled with health issues.

A life-long learner, Pierre spent hours at the library, reading and researching any topic that intrigued him at the time and therefore a donation to the Moncton Public Library in his memory would be a fitting tribute.

In accordance with Pierre’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.  Interment at Our Lady of Calvary cemetery will be arranged for mid-2023.

We thank Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre (Moncton) for their assistance and support.  Words of comfort and donations may be made at www.frenettefuneralhome.com.

We raise a glass to Pierre…he will be missed.
