Léona Marie Doucet, 78, of Moncton, NB, passed
away peacefully after an extended illness at le Faubourg du Mascaret
on Thursday, December 8th, 2022, surrounded by her family. Born in
Chéticamp, NS, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and
Édith (Romard) Boudreau.
Léona will be sadly missed by her devoted husband
of 56 years, Philippe; her three loving children: Danielle (Mike
Fletcher) of Woodstock, Louise (Bob Gorham) of Moncton, and Pierre of
Fredericton; her beloved grandchildren: Isabelle, Ethan and Caroline;
and many close members of her extended family.
Besides her parents, Léona was predeceased by her
brother Edgar and her sister Geoffrine.
Léona was a perfect housewife who lovingly raised
her three children while still finding time to work part-time from
home as a typist for university students in the ‘70s and
‘80s. She later worked as an office administrator in the
medical and legal fields, with a work ethic second to
none.
She had an infectious sense of humour, an easy smile,
contagious laughter, and was honest to a fault. She was a faithful
friend who was kind and generous to everyone. An avid golfer (who
refused to brag about her four holes in one), an enthusiastic bowler,
a keen bridge player, and an excellent knitter, she loved being
active.
A fundamentally good person, Léona was a shining
example of kindness, generosity, and humility.
Her family offers their deepest gratitude to the many
employees of Pavillon Cormier at le Faubourg du Mascaret, who went
above and beyond in providing loving care and treating her like family
during the last four years of her life.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) where the
funeral service will be celebrated on Monday December 12 at 3 pm.
Visiting hours are Sunday December 11 from 2 to 4 pm and Monday
December 12 from 2 pm until time of funeral. Interment will be in
Frenette Columbarium. Donations in Léona’s memory
can be made to Parkinson Canada or the charity of the
donor’s choice.
