Bella Dutcher, 91, of Moncton, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Lakeburn, she was the daughter of the late Cléophas and Edna (LeBlanc) Melanson.

Bella was an avid gardener and bird watcher. Her gardens were never complete without her birdbaths or her birdhouses and feeders. Her favourite flowers were roses, tulips and chrysanthemums. Gardening became her hobby and passion during her retirement, and resulted in many fresh tomatoes and vegetables for her larder and friends. She would make some of the best strawberry and blueberry jams. She was also the unofficial matron of her cottage neighborhood in Shediac, where she was happy to talk with neighbors and friends while watching the beautiful Shediac Bay sunsets. She was loved and will be missed by all her friends and family.

She is survived by her son, Charles Dutcher of Ottawa and formerly of Moncton, her sister Pauline Shea of Moncton; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Dutcher; a son Peter; three brothers: Yvon, Aurele, and Normand; and three sisters: Freda, Clara, and Doris.

In keeping Bella’s wishes, there will be no visitation and no funeral service. Interment will be at Our Lady of Calvary cemetery in Dieppe cemetery. In memory of Bella, a contribution to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation (Geriatrics) would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton (858-1900).
