Billy Lewis, 70, of Dieppe, passed away on Friday, November
11, 2022 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Moncton, he was the
son of the late Herbert Lewis and Helen (Meyer) Lewis.
Billy was a simple man who loved life, his family and friends
and every dog he ever met. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards,
and singing and playing his guitar with a cold beer (or
two).
He retired from Norampac after 25 years where he made
lifelong friends. After his retirement, he moved to Dieppe and with
his pleasant and outgoing ways, made great friends and had some of the
best and most caring neighbours who were always there to play a game
of cards or help out around the yard.
He also found his love of camping and looked forward to each
Spring when he could open up the trailer. He spent eight amazing years
at the campground surrounded by family, and friends who became like
family to him. With a pocket full of dog treats, a funny song and his
contagious laugh, everyone always felt welcome at his campfire. He
would always say "The more, the merrier!", and he
meant it. He loved to be surrounded by people.
He even made friends with the oncology nurses. They would
laugh and joke with him all the time. You would never have thought he
was there for cancer treatments the way they all carried on with him.
You could hear him laughing from the waiting room. A huge Thank you to
Dr. Maillet and all of the oncology staff that made his sickness a
little more bearable.
It seems that everyone who ever met him, has a story to tell.
He will be remembered as a happy man, a caring father and poppy, and a
loving husband. He deeply loved his little Donnakin (Donna) and she
will sadly miss her Poppy, but will hold onto all of the great
memories they made when they were together. Our family life will never
be the same. The world will be a little bit sadder without you in
it.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Stella (Doucet); two
children: Kevin (Shelley) and Kelly Kitchen (Donny); his
granddaughter, Donna Grace Kitchen who was his pride and joy; his
siblings: Betty Jeffery (late Bob), Bobby (Jill), Barbara Morrison
(Bernie), Rachel Lewis, Lynn Leger (Paul), Stewart (Suzanne), Evelyn
Doucet, Larry (Eddy) and Carol McLaughlin; as well as his many nieces,
nephews and extended family.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) where the
celebration of life will be held on Wednesday November 16 at 4 pm.
Visiting hours are Wednesday from 2 pm until time of funeral.
Interment will be at Our Lady of Calvary cemetery in Dieppe. In memory
of Billy, a contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation (oncology) would
be appreciated.
