Edna Brien, 93, of Shemogue passed away at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC on Monday August 8, 2022. Born in Cap-Pelé, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Hélèna (Richard) Brun.

During her life, Edna enjoyed knitting wool socks for everyone, quilting and sewing blankets on her sewing machine, preparing "poutine rapée", reading, and admiring her flower garden at the entrance of her home. Family and friends were always welcome. She was a proud member of the Catholic Church and a believer in the power of prayer.

She is survived by her four sons: Éverard of Shemogue, Camille (Alice) of Moncton, Hazen (Rachel) of Irishtown and Paul of Moncton; two sisters: Élise Brine and Laura Jacob, as well as many nieces, and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lester Brien (1989); five sisters: Anita Brine, Anna Surette, Zella Melanson, Minnie Jacob, and infant sister, Marie; two brothers: Donat and Clovis.

There was no visitation, and a private chapel service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Saint-Timothée cemetery, Shemogue.

In memory of Edna, a contribution to the Saint-Vincent of Paul Society or Mutual Aid Committee of Cap-Pelé/Shemogue or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 2642 Acadie Street, Cap-Pelé (577-3297).
