Sister Irène Léger (Marie-Anna), ndsc, passed away following a short illness on Wednesday August 10, 2022, at the Motherhouse of the Religieuses de Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur in Moncton. She was 90 years old and in the 71st year of her religious life. Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late André and Nathalie (LeBlanc) Léger.
Besides her religious family, she is survived by four sisters: Viola Léger of Dieppe, Doris Léger of Fitchburg, MA, Sr. Agnès Léger, ndsc, of Dieppe, and Lilianne Léger-Maples of Saint-Thomas-de-Kent; as well as her nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers: F. Laurie and Eugène (Sumlee).
Sister Irène will be resting at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Friday August 12 from 2 to 4 pm only. Face covering is strongly suggested to enter the funeral centre, and face covering and proof of vaccination are mandatory for the private funeral. A funeral mass by invitation will be celebrated in the chapel of the Motherhouse of the Religieuses de Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur in Moncton on Saturday August 13 at 10 am. The funeral mass will be streamed live and may be viewed on her obituary at www.frenettefuneralhome.com where condolences may also be sent. Interment will be in Memramcook.
