It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Louise Breau Bontes at the Dr. George’s-L-Dumont UHC on Saturday July 30, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Edmond and Alice (Auffrey) Breau.

A former nun (known as Sister Marie Monique) with the order of Notre Dame du Sacré Coeur, she was remained a devout Christian throughout her life. She studied music at Saint Vincent d’ Indy in Montreal (B.Arts), choir direction and organ at the University of Indiana, USA (Masters program) and University of Moncton (B Ed).

She taught music in Bathurst and Moncton, N.B., Wabush, N.L., and in Hull, QC.

She loved music and was part of choirs or played the piano and organ at catholic churches in Carlton Place, ON, as well as in Shediac and Grande-Digue, N.B.

After retirement, she enjoyed travelling with her husband, Jan in Canada, Europe, and spending winters in Florida.

She was a person who always saw everything as a "glass half full" and appreciated anything family or friends did for her. She loved flowers, feeding birds, dogs, and cats especially her cat, Ginger.

She will be missed by her nieces and nephews: Lorraine Breau, Ron Breau, Denise Breau, Frank Breau, Janet Breau, Suzanne Beck, and Nancy Perrault and the Bontes family.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jan Bontes; her brothers and sister in-laws: Raymond (Annette Côté), Amos (Dora), Henry (Bernice), John (Charleen); one nephew, Michel Breau.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Manoir Pascal Poirier and the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont UHC for their excellent care.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (532-3297) where the funeral service will be celebrated on Friday August 5 at 3 pm. Visiting hours are Friday from 1 pm to 2:45 pm. Face covering is recommended. The funeral service will be streamed live and may be viewed on her obituary at www.frenettefuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Cystic Fibrosis Canada, Hospice SENB (Albert House) or donor’s choice.
