Lorraine Babin, 98, formerly of Shediac, passed away on Saturday July 9, 2022, at the Villa du Repos in Moncton. Born in Scoudouc, she was the daughter of the late Dyonis and Zelica (Melanson) Babin.
She is survived by her two daughters: Marie Gallant (Wayne) of Saint-Hubert, Quebec and Diane Gallant (Pierre) of Saint-Eustache, Quebec; one sister, Rita Boudreau (late Leonard) of Shediac; one brother, Roger Babin (Lucille) of Pointe-du-Chêne; one sister-in-law, Lucille Babin (late Raymond) of Dieppe; five grandchildren: Anthony, Mélanie (Patrick), Julien, Mathieu (Caroline) and Samuel; three great-grandchildren: Charles, Ludvick and Mia; five great-great-grandchildren: Olivier, Manuel, Maude, Lilyane and Victor; as well as her nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Emile Gallant (1995); her second husband, Armand Gautreau (2008); her daughter, Norma Gallant (2020); five siblings: Stella, Léo, Émile, Raymond, Sam and two infant children, Anselme and Rita; one great-granddaughter, Kim and one great-grandson, Derek.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Villa du Repos in Moncton for all their care, time and assistance provided to Lorraine.
Marie and Diane Gallant would like to give a special thank you to their cousins Gerry and Sylvia Gallant for the support and accompaniment that they gave to Lorraine in the last moments of her life.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (532-3297), New-Brunswick where the funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday July 20, 2022 at 4 pm. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 2 pm until time of the funeral. Face coverings are recommended. Interment will be in Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur parish cemetery in Scoudouc. In memory of Lorraine, a contribution to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
