It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Odette Meunier, 66, of Moncton, on Saturday July 9, 2022 at the Hospice Albert House. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Omer and Gloria (Mazerolle) Cormier.

Odette started her career at a young age, working with her mother at the lunch counter at F.W. Woolworths Ltd. on Main Street. After completing her schooling, she went to work at Eastern Bakery (Butter Nut) and after their office closing, she began her last journey at Blue Cross, becoming one of the smiling faces at Quick Pay. Odette met many of her customers, often remembering them by their names during the 20 years working there, to which she received the nickname Madame Blue Cross.

After retiring in 2016, Odette enjoyed her summers and free time at her cottage, named Paradise Point, working in her flowers, gardening, endless walks on the sand bars, and enjoying her time with her best friend and mother, until her passing in March 2022.

Odette had a large circle of friends, part of them being since their school years. She had regular gatherings with them and would open her house or cottage, hosting many parties. She also loved to travel, with her highlights being Turks & Caicos and Calgary.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Floyd; her son, Jason (Marie-Pier Lambert); and her granddaughter due in July, Ellie; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her stepfather, Alban Légère.

We would like to thank the staff of Extra-Mural, the staff of Albert House Hospice, the special group of her school friends and especially Susan Lavoie, Gisèle LeBlanc, Maryse LeBlanc, Linda Lirette, Jason and Marie-Pier, and Diane Richard, for all their time and assistance provided to Odette during her short time battling her sickness.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church, Moncton (858-1900) where the funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday July 14 at 4 pm. Visiting hours are Thursday from 1 pm until time of funeral. Face coverings are recommended. Interment will be at Frenette Columbarium. In memory of Odette, a contribution to Hospice SENB (Albert House) or to CHU Dumont Foundation (oncology) would be appreciated.
