It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Christopher McKnight who passed away suddenly but peacefully in his sleep on Sunday May 15, 2022 at his home in Vancouver, BC, at the young age of 38. Chris was born on July 20th, 1983 to Charline and Larry McKnight, in Bathurst, NB, and grew up in Moncton, NB.

After graduating from the University of Dalhousie with a degree in geology, he settled in Vancouver. There he lived and worked for 15 years while exploring the world through many adventurous trips: Iceland, Japan, Colombia, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and a cross-country road trip through Canada (just to name a few). He had a deep love for the natural world and took every opportunity to appreciate its wonders. For the past five years, he found fulfilling work with Bartec Fire Safety Systems as a fire safety planner.

He had a passion for music throughout his life, expressed through his incredible skill on the bass guitar. His absence in the music scene is sure to be felt by those who have shared the joy of performing with him.

Despite the distance from his family, his connection to his parents and younger sister remained strong and the love between them was unwavering.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Chris, even just a little, realized what a kind soul he was. He looked out for those less fortunate than him, always willing to extend a helping hand.  His wit, his unique sense of humour, his laughter, and his caring nature will be fondly remembered by many.

He will be sadly missed by his mother, Charline McKnight, his father, Larry McKnight, his sister Jennifer McKnight, and his companion Ali Brogden, as well as his half-brother Robert Falzon, his aunts and uncles: Leoline and Normand Hetu, Francis and Diane Melanson, and Lenny Melanson, and many cousins, friends, fellow musicians, and co-workers.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) where a celebration of life will take place on Saturday June 18 at 2 pm. Visiting hours are Saturday from 1 pm until time of celebration of life. Although it is no longer mandatory, wearing a mask is strongly recommended for this event due to the vulnerability of certain family members present on site.

The celebration of life will be streamed live; to view the funeral, go to his obituary on our Website.

Donations to the SPCA in his honour would be appreciated, or in lieu of donations, please honour Chris’ memory through acts of kindness towards others.

Condolences may be forwarded to the family at www.frenettefuneralhome.com.
