Constantine "Costa" Georgoudis, 90, of Moncton,
passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at home. Born in Greece, he was
the son of the late George and Penelope Georgoudis.
In 1958, Costa left his family in Greece and landed at Pier
21 in Halifax and like so many other immigrants took a train to
Montreal where he started his journey for a better life. Within one
year, Costa was reunited with his wife and his son in Montreal. His
work ethic was quickly rewarded when he became the supervisor for
various cleaning companies. Although grateful for this promotion, his
desire to provide an even better life for his family came to fruition
during a hunting trip in New Brunswick. While visiting Moncton, he saw
a business opportunity and grabbed it. With hard work, determination,
and dedication, he established the well- known and respected
Vito’s restaurant; a family restaurant business in Moncton
for over 53 years. He valued all his customers and did everything he
could to give back to the community that gave him so much. Being a
generous man, he supported countless local charities, the Moncton and
Georges-Dumont hospitals, and sports organizations. Costa was an avid
hunter and fisherman, loved taking care of his beehives, enjoyed
spending countless hours at his camp, and always looked forward to his
outdoor adventures with his cherished friends. Costa was
fiercely loyal, kind, humble, and a shining example of a great family
man.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Katerina (Katina)
(Panopalis); two sons: Jimmy and Peter (Antigone), both of Moncton;
one daughter-in-law, Shelley Georgoudis of Salisbury; six
grandchildren: Catherine, Melissa, Stephania, Katherina, Costa, and
Katerina; his siblings: Peter (late Maria) and Nick (Dina), both of
Saint John, and Anthoula (Sam) of Greece; as well as his nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, George; and his brother,
Dimitri.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Wednesday,
