It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Caissie, 81, of Moncton, on Saturday May 14, 2022, at Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Léandre and Marguerite (Duguay) Caissie.

George will be sadly missed by his wife of 58 years, Valda (Maillet); four children: Monique of Fredericton, Ginette (Michel Savoie) of Shediac Bridge, Roger (Natalie Levesque) of Shediac and Marc (Carla Pierce) of Moncton; one brother, Louis (late Mary) of Fredericton; three grandchildren: Christian, Frédéric and Catherine, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Jacqueline and his nephew Daniel.

George received a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Brunswick in 1964. Prior to his retirement, he worked for the NB Department of Transportation as District Highway Engineer and in Vehicle Management. George enjoyed playing golf and curling for many years. He was past president of Curl Moncton. He was a big Montreal Canadiens hockey fan spending much of his time watching sports of all kinds.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (532-3297) on Wednesday May 18 from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm only. A private funeral service will be celebrated. Face-covering is recommended at the funeral centre. The funeral service will be videotaped, and the video will be available on his obituary on our Website on Thursday May 19 at 10 am. Interment will be in St-Joseph cemetery in Shediac.

In memory of George, a contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation (oncology) would be appreciated.
