Léonce "Nini" Cormier, 78, of Shediac, passed away on Wednesday May 4, 2022, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Shediac, he was the son of the late Gérard and Céline (Gallant) Cormier.

Nini worked for the Town of Shediac for 30 years and retired at the age 60. After retirement, he started fishing, hunting, and smelt fishing. He loved winter and helping others by cleaning off their cars and shoveling snow. Nini was well known for his generosity. His step-grandchildren called him "Lala".

He is survived by his special friend, Paulette; stepson, Martin Gautreau (Caroline) of Bouctouche; six brothers: Raymond (late Rachel), Gérard (Linda), Lorenzo, Norbert (Annette), Jean-Charles and Edvin (Yvette); one sister, Angela McPhee; six step-grandchildren: Annie Gautreau, Lynne Gautreau, Sonia Gautreau, Marc Gautreau, Luc Gautreau and Sophie Gautreau, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters: Cécile and Laurentine; three brothers: Abraham, Armand and Alphée.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Center, 396 Main Street, Shediac (532-3297) where the funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday May 12 at 4 pm. Visiting hours are Thursday from 2 pm until time of funeral. Face covering is recommended. Interment will be in the St-Joseph cemetery in Shediac.
