Viola "Vi" McArdle, 91, of Moncton, passed away
peacefully at her home on Wednesday April 27, 2022. Born in
Pré-d’en-Haut, she was the daughter of the late
Vital and Edmée (Melanson) Richard.
She is survived by her two sons: Michael of St-Hubert, QC,
and Greg of Moncton; four sisters: Jeannine Caissie (Leo) of
Massachusetts, Aline LeBlanc of California, Dorine Gautreau (late
Léo) of Saint-Joseph, and Bertille LeBlanc (Steve) of
Dieppe; four brothers: Francis (Loretta) of Moncton,
Léo-Paul and Élie
(Marie-Thérèse), both of Dieppe, and Donald
(Andréa) of Memramcook; as well as several nieces and
nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward "Eddie",
(2002); and one sister, Marie-Ange, (2019) (late
Gérald).
She studied at Oulton Business College, working 7 years at
both Assumption Insurance and CFB Moncton (#5) as well as 22 years
with the federal government. She attended Christ-Roi Catholic Church
and volunteered, most notably 15 years at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont
University Hospital Centre. She also loved to play the piano, travel
and especially enjoyed spending countless hours tending to her flowers
and plants around her home. She was, above all, a loving, caring wife
and mother with a heart of gold who always thought of others before
herself. She will be dearly missed by her two sons, family and
friends.
The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses and
support staff of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre,
the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology Centre and the Extra-Mural
Program Blanche-Bourgeois Unit for the care they provided as well as
the Canadian Red Cross for all the at home care
accessories.
The family will receive condolences on Tuesday May 10 from 7
to 9 pm only at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church
Street, Moncton (858-1900). The family respectfully
requests that everyone wear a face covering. There will
be no funeral service and a private gathering will follow at a later
date.
Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe. In
memory of Viola, a contribution to a charity of your choice would be
appreciated.
