It is with very heavy hearts we announce the passing of Alexis "Tree" Léger.  Alexis passed away tragically in a car accident on Friday, April 15, 2022, at the young age of 25.

Alexis leaves behind his two precious children; who were the centre of his life, Penelope (5 years old) and Nixon (9 years old); his parents, Renée Fougère (Barrett Gaunce) and Ronnie Léger (Andrea Downing), his brother Jean Francois Léger, and niece Amelia, step siblings Jesse, Annie, and Allegra, godparents Joline and Francis, grandmother Claudette, aunt and uncles Mireille, Bernard and Roger, and their families, the Bastarache family; mother of his children Chelsea, the children’s grandparents Rachel & Tim, as well as their extended family.  Alexis was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Jean Paul Fougère, his paternal grandparents, Mémère Cookie (Madeleine) & Acquila Léger, and his beloved aunt, Denise Goguen.

"We are all actors in a play called ‘Life’", and Alexis played many roles, including doting father, highly spirited son, supportive and encouraging older brother, loving uncle, loyal friend, fearless and determined BMX rider, thrill seeker, thrift store enthusiast, skilled framing carpenter, entrepreneur, and adventurous & ambitious go-getter.  He dreamed big and lived big, often thinking himself invincible.  He survived many stunts, and he continually pushed his personal boundaries every day in every way.  Alexis’s determination left its mark with the creation of the Shediac Skate Park in 2012.  His passion for BMX riding and his fearlessness took him all over Canada, United States, and the UK to film videos in pursuit of the "best bike clip" of the best bike trick he could do.  Known as "Tree" in this community, Alexis’s fellow bikers became his brothers and remained a source of support throughout the years, even as he fought to overcome serious injuries from a car accident in 2018. This time, they will help Alexis’s family through his final voyage.

Alexis’s passion was BMX riding, but what was most important to him were his two precious children. They filled him with love, hope and joy.  He would relish in Penelope’s cuddles and rejoiced when dirt biking with Nixon.  It was Alexis’s life purpose to give them the best life possible, rich in experiences and adventures.  His thirst for life has been passed on to his children and they will grow up hearing of their father's vibrant attitude and passion for adventure.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (532-3297) where the funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday April 30 at 2 pm. Visiting hours are Friday from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm and Saturday from 12 pm to 1:45 pm. Face covering are mandatory. The funeral service will be streamed live; to view the funeral, go to his obituary on our Website.
