It is with great sadness that we announce the passing
of Joe Vautour, 81, of Petit-Cap, on Saturday March 26, 2022, at the
Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC, with his loving wife by his side. Born in
Petit-Cap, he was the son of the late Charles and Délima
(Arsenault) Vautour.
Joe was a hard worker all his life. He was
a self-taught jack of all trades. You could always find him
in his workshop, where he was welding and fabricating equipment for
the local fisherman. There were no tasks that were ever too
difficult for him to tackle. He also had a passion for
hunting, which he passed on to his grandsons, Samuel and
Jérémie. In his younger years, Joe
loved to dance - he was quite the stepper. He even learned a
traditional Greek dance for his son’s wedding. Joe
loved to tease and play jokes on family and friends, especially his
youngest grandson, Joseph from Ottawa.
He will be missed by his wife of 58 years, Yolande;
son, Gilles (Mary); daughter, Rachelle Boudreau (Charles); three
beloved grandsons: Samuel Boudreau, Jérémie
Boudreau (Nadia Belliveau) and Joseph Vautour; two brothers:
Léo (Ouida) and Paul; six sisters: Bernadette Poirier (late
Normand), Marceline Duguay (Louis), Madelaine Léger (Guy),
Sara Léger, Marie Doiron-Léger (Dan) and Jeanne
Moore (Dave), as well as many nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, André
(2013) and an infant sister, Marie (1954).
We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the nurses
and doctors of the 4C unit at the Dr George-L. Dumont UHC for the
excellent care and compassion given to Joe during his final
days.
