With much sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of Margaret (Margie) Mary Edwards on March 2, 2022, at the age of 89.

Born in Saint John, N.B. on August 5, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Vesta (Farren) McCrossin. She is survived by Eric J Edwards, her beloved spouse of 67 years and their three children – Joan (Lester Burke), William (Jill Logan) and Andrew (Stephanie Rolston).

Eric and Margie were also blessed by nine grandchildren – Erin, Benjamin, Luke, Julie, John, Mitchell, Tom, Elizabeth, and Jennifer, and 12 great-grandchildren – Kaleb, Valentino, Logan, Patrick, Eli, Eva Lily, Susannah, Ezra, Brielle, Leo, Angelina, and Lachlan. Known as Grandma or Gigi, her kitchen was always full of sweets – the best pies ever! - and popsicles at happy hour. She made each one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren feel special and loved.

Margie was the valedictorian from St. Peter’s High School in Dartmouth in 1949. After raising her children, Margie worked at CentraCare for 20 years in HR and Benefits. Upon retiring, she and Eric enjoyed 25 years of wintering in Florida and summering in Shediac, NB before settling in New Brunswick year around. Margaret was an avid bridge and crib player and enjoyed golf and lawn bowling. She had a keen passion for the Triple Crown horse races and could be seen each spring in front of her TV sporting her Derby hat. Margie was known for being proud of her Canadian and Irish roots. Her kindness and quick wit endeared her to everyone she met.

Margaret is also survived by siblings William McCrossin, Dorothy Graham and Catherine Campbell, all residents of Nova Scotia. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Edward McCrossin, and Thomas McCrossin.

At Margaret’s request, the funeral and burial services will be held in St. Mark's church, Saint John N.B., on Monday, July 11th at 10 am. Arrangements will be made through Frenette Funeral Centre, Shediac.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret’s name to Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Shediac (532-3297).
