At 2:07 on Friday February 11,
Claude Yvon Gallant, 62, gave his last breath. He gave his everything
to defeat the horrible disease that is
cancer.
Claude retired from the Villa
Providence 2 weeks before his first AML diagnosis in January 2021. He
was often called upon for advice. His knowledge in all aspects of
every trades made him the best jack of all trades, if he
didn’t know the answer, he would figure it out. As a young
man he was an avid hockey player and his passion for the sport
followed him until the very end. He also played darts, soccer and
softball. His passion for sports led him into coaching most of his
boys’ soccer and hockey teams. He was well respected by the
kids he coached through out the years. He was still giving his time to
minor hockey, taking care of the refereeing staff and organizing
tournaments. In his later years, he found a love for washer toss and
even won the world championship tournament with his son Randy. Claude
was always singing. He was a great singer and had a gift to put a
smile on anyone’s face.
Claude will be greatly missed
by his dear wife Dianne Gallant of 43 years and his 3 boys: Shawn
Gallant (Whitney Gallant), Derek Gallant (Marie-Line Beauregard
Gallant) and Randy Gallant (Samantha Harquail). His seven beautiful
grandchildren, Jaxson, Henri, Asher, Arthur, Caroline, Oaklee, and
Jeanine will surely miss their beloved pépère.
The love he had for those kids was greater than the man himself. He
will be missed by his sibling; Mike (Carolyn), Victor (Gloria),
Gisèle Boudreau (Marcel), Annette Normandeau (Jean) and
Louise Gallant (Louis).
He
is succeeded by his parents Gonzague (2018) and Anna (1996) Gallant
and his brother, George Gallant
(2015).
