Rita Leger, 97, wife of the late Edgar Leger, passed away peacefully at the Extendicare Nursing Home in Sudbury, Ontario. Born in Haut-Shippagan, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Jose and Marie Alexandrine Chiasson.

Rita and her late husband, Edgar, were the owner-operator of the former Ed’s Marina and Tavern in Alban, Ontario. Rita enjoyed her home in front of the French River in the summertime and in the winter months, she would return to her place in Florida.

She is survived by a sister, Phebee Sonier of New Brunswick and a brother, Normand Chiasson of Brossard, Quebec as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was predeceased by her children: Diana Olson, Margaret Narejko, and Edgar Jr; her siblings: Ida, Aurele, Willie, Alcide, Edmond, Romain, Laura, Eloise, and Leo.

As per his wishes, there will be no visitation at the funeral centre. The funeral mass will be celebrated at La Visitation R.C. Church, 415 Route 530, Grande-Digue, on Friday July 29 at 11:00 am. In memory of Rita, a contribution to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
